Privacy policy

This blog's privacy policy, explaining visitor data collection through Matomo, local storage of browsing traces, and how to opt out of tracking.

For search engine optimization and usability purposes, this blog keeps a record of its visitors thanks to the open source software Matomo. The following are recorded: technological information (browsers, operating system, ...), number of visits, paths and actions performed on the blog. This data is displayed in two ways:

  • As a map for each visit / visitor (see below)
  • In aggregated form

Matomo map, visitor profile

This is what the visitor display looks like.

In a post-Snowden context, data collection can be unsettling. A few clarifications are needed regarding my use of this data:

  • Since 2013, Google Analytics has been removed from the websites associated with the Organisation Très Secrète because of Google's privacy policy. We now use Matomo, which allows the collected data to be stored locally. In other words, your traces are stored on the Organisation Très Secrète server, and not in the database of a multinational corporation that trades in this information.
  • Similarly, the WordPress platform has been phased out in favor of Ghost, which is more respectful of its users' privacy.
  • I do not use your data for marketing purposes, and to date I have derived no financial benefit from this blog (should that ever change, I would opt for funding methods other than bottling you up for hundreds of advertisers).
  • If, despite everything, you would rather not leave me any information about your activity on this blog, you can disappear from my radar at any time by unchecking the box below.

If the iFrame above does not display correctly, you can reach the opt-out box manually.

Thanks to everyone who helps improve this blog!
